My father was a cabinetmaker, Dad made sure I worked every summer. I was exposed to every nasty job on site, labourer for 7 Italian masons, ah. Making windows in a glass shop,ow.
Out of school I ran from the construction game.
I sold menswear for Tip Top Tailors, "youngest" manager ever. Made a whack of money, without getting a single sliver!
Got bored and went back to construction, my father thought I was crazy!
Worked on Sulphur "Mtn." Teahouse in early 80's, went to work riding a gondola up to 9,000', cold and unforgiving. Then at Banff Springs Hotel in the eng.dept., with a German "Master Carpenter",his "student" for 6 years, he was amazing. It was time to start my "own" thing. 1st a reno co. in Toronto. Mtns. v.s. big city was too much. I moved a couple of hours north to Georgian Bay area, and created my own co."ChrisRogersDesigner/Biulder" some great clients, celebrities included. The mnts. were like a magnet , both my girls were in university, I was free to head west, again. I now own, "Wildside Woodworking" in Canmore, Ab. Have a great reputation, always busy. Life is good.
